Student Course Enrollment Information

Students will utilize LSU's Workday Student system for course registration and enrollment. For detailed instructions and additional resources on how to navigate the system, please refer to the Workday Student website linked below.

Workday Student - Student Resources

If a course or preferred section is full, students may choose to join the waitlist. If a seat becomes available, students on the waitlist will receive a Workday notification to accept the spot. The student must then log into Workday Student to confirm acceptance within the specified timeframe; failure to do so will result in the seat being offered to the next student on the waitlist.

It is the student's responsibility to ensure that there are no scheduling conflicts, active holds, and all eligibility requirements are met prior to joining the waitlist. Failure to do so may result in being skipped or bypassed on the waitlist.

Additionally, students cannot be bumped up or moved ahead on waitlists. Waitlist positions are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and Academic Administrators and Advisors are unable to modify a student's position on the waitlist under any circumstances.

Course overrides are now handled by the Senior Colleges. However, certain override requests may be reviewed by the Introductory Biology Office. If you plan to enroll in a course at another institution and are unable to register due to transfer restrictions, a pre-override may be requested. To do so, please complete the Override Request Form linked below. Upon submission, the Introductory Biology office will review and evaluate your request. If an override is applicable, the Introductory Biology Office will then submit a request to the appropriate Senior College on the student’s behalf for processing. *Please review the “Transfer Eligibility/Prerequisite Credit(s) Policy” section prior to completing & submitting the Override form.

INTRODUCTORY BIOLOGY PROGRAM STUDENT COURSE OVERRIDE FORM

Students with duplicate credits must request an override directly to their designated Senior College for assistance. Our office is unable to review or assess overrides for duplicate credits. For clarification, a duplicate credit occurs when two courses are equivalent, and therefore, credit in both courses cannot be given. For example, if a student has received credit for BIOL 1001 and later switches to a science degree requiring BIOL 1201, they will need to seek an override to enroll in BIOL 1201, as this would be considered a duplicate credit due to prior credit in BIOL 1001.

For Pre-Nursing Students Only - Pre-Nursing students must request overrides through the University College Pre-Nursing Advising, which can be reached via email at pnurs@lsu.edu.

If you have met the course eligibility rules and prerequisites and are experiencing trouble registering, please visit Workday Student’s website for the step-by-step reference guides or reach out to your Senior College for further assistance.

Students planning to transfer or intending to enroll in courses at other institutions that serve as prerequisites or eligibility requirements for LSU’s Introductory Biology courses should first consult the Tiger Transfer Tables to verify course equivalency and transferability. For example, a student planning to complete BIOL 1201 at another institution during the summer term and then enroll in BIOL 1202 in the subsequent fall semester must ensure the course(s) are approved for transfer. Failure to do so may result in the course(s) not transferring, which could prevent enrollment in BIOL 1202 as originally planned. For more information regarding the eligibility rules, course criteria, and prerequisite requirements for the Introductory Biology Program, please refer to our Student Course Information Page.

Students currently enrolled in a prerequisite course at a different Institution will be unable to register for the subsequent course(s) for the upcoming semester. To proceed in obtaining the needed enrollment, students must contact the Introductory Biology Program and submit an Override Request Form (linked below) to request an enrollment override. If an override is approved, the approval is contingent upon successful completion of the prerequisite coursework. Failure to meet the eligibility/prerequisite requirements will result in removal from the overridden course(s).

Note: Transcripts are reviewed and processed by LSU’s Undergraduate Admissions Office, and the evaluation of transfer credits can take up to 30 days or more. For updates and inquiries regarding the status of transfer credit(s), contact Undergraduate Admissions at admissions@lsu.edu or 225-578-1175.

Given that the processing of transfer credit(s) can take time, in addition to submitting the transfer transcript to LSU Admissions, students MUST also submit verification of the prerequisite credits to introbio@lsu.edu at least one week prior to the relevant semester’s start date for which the override was granted (i.e., override was granted for the fall term, the transfer credit must be sent as stated above at least one week prior to the start of fall classes).

For questions related to course scheduling or eligibility/prerequisite requirements, students should consult their Academic Advisor within their respective College.
