Making Internships Happen: LSU’s Career Center Equips Students to Be Job Ready on Day One

July 25, 2025

Employers want job-ready graduates, but students need real-world practice to get there. Internships can be the key to building that experience, but without proper guidance, they can feel out of reach.

That’s where LSU steps in.

Through the Olinde Career Center, LSU connects students to thousands of internship opportunities and delivers the tools, support, and hands-on resources they need to compete and succeed.

Students and employers mingle at a career day event at LSU

LSU brought more than 850 companies to campus to recruit students and hosted 14 career events throughout the past year.

In the past year alone, more than 35,000 internship opportunities were posted on the Handshake online career platform for LSU students—part of a total 144,500 listings tailored to Tigers. LSU students are actively engaging with those opportunities, submitting over 205,000 applications.

And students are meeting with hundreds of top employers—right on campus.

LSU brought more than 850 companies to campus to recruit students and hosted 14 career events throughout the past year. Students can also take advantage of daily drop-in and group appointments, the on-campus interviewing program, resume and interview prep tools like Quinncia, and a team of dedicated career coaches.

From engineering to media, business to biosciences, LSU students are stepping into internships that give them a strong start—and often lead directly to job offers.
