Our school resides in the newly renovated Huey P. Long Field House, a historical landmark that underwent a spectacular $26 million restoration. Originally built in 1932, this iconic structure has been revitalized to house cutting-edge facilities for the LSU School of Kinesiology.

Inside the Renovation

Step into a new era of learning and exploration. The project, supported by Governor John Bel Edwards and Louisiana legislators, transformed the Huey P. Long Field House into a 106,451 square feet hub of excellence. Boasting a new four-story infill, 40-seat and 60-seat classrooms, a 150-seat auditorium, and advanced research laboratories, our facilities pave the way for unparalleled academic and research experiences.

In the heart of the newly restored Huey P. Long Field House are laboratory spaces for both the Exercise Physiology and Behavioral, Psychological, and Pedagogical Sciences (BPPS) Research Programs. These laboratory spaces allow for our faculty to access state-of-the-art technology for their research to improve health outcomes across the lifespan.

Ochsner Center Leading the Charge in Transformative Health

Step into the future of wellness at the Ochsner Wellness Center within the Huey P. Long Field House. With a $4 million leadership gift from Ochsner Health, this multipurpose space is a collaboration between the School of Kinesiology and Ochsner Health, furthering the mission of both institutions. Join us in addressing chronic health issues and contributing to Ochsner's Healthy State by 2030 initiative.

Elevating Skills at the Richard & Lori Pellerin Athletic Training Suite

This state-of-the-art facility, generously donated by LSU alumni, entrepreneurs, and real estate investors Richard and Lori Pellerin, stands as a beacon of commitment to both fitness and philanthropy. Featuring an Examination Room/Classroom, Control Room, Patient Exam Room, Multi-Person Sim Lab, and a Debrief Room equipped with cutting-edge technology, this 2,000 square foot suite ensures our athletic training students receive the highest level of practical experience. Where Research Fuels Lifelong Health

Kinesiology Labs at the LSU Gym Armory

Additional labs for the School of Kinesiology faculty are housed in more than 11,400 square feet of space in the historic Gym Armory, right next to the Huey P. Long Field House. Engaging in research focused on the learning and performance of coordinated movement, our Motor Behavior department conducts research in the Gym Armory, specializing in work with people of various ages across the lifespan to better understand, maintain, and/or improve the well-being of healthy individuals and people with neurological deficits due to natural aging, injury, and disease. The Gym Armory also accommodates two additional Exercise Physiology laboratories and serves as office space for numerous School of Kinesiology graduate assistants, fostering a collaborative academic environment.
